About Me
Counseling is a helpful tool that I enjoy making accessible for all ages. I offer counseling services for children, teens, and adults using a person-centered approach. Person-centered means I emphasize empathy, unconditional acceptance and authenticity in our therapeutic relationship.
Therapy will look different across the lifespan: talk therapy for adults, a mix of activity-based therapy and talk therapy for tweens/teens, and play therapy for children. No matter the age, the heart of my counseling approach stays the same - centering your needs in order to help you build the life you imagine for yourself.
I received a master’s degree in counseling at the University of Houston. My career started in education, with a bachelor's degree in music education. I served as an educator and school counselor for several years before making the transition into private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Empire Behavioral Health.
Counseling for Adults and Parents
You might be feeling stuck in life, in a relationship, in a job, or maybe a feeling like a struggling parent. Counseling creates a support system to help you navigate life’s challenges without judgement. Through a person-centered approach, we will explore how to meet yourself with curiosity to find clarity.
Counseling for Tweens and Teens
With the tweens and teens that walk into my therapy office, I like to meet them with authenticity and a healthy sense of humor, especially if they might not be 100% sold on coming to therapy. Sometimes the struggle is at home, at school, with friends, or maybe it’s an internal struggle within. Person-centered therapy is a non-directive approach that encourages your teen or tween to lead the way in learning how to build a healthy relationship with self and others.
Child-Centered Play Therapy (3-10 yo)
A child’s first language is play.
Play intuitively allows a child to express and experience their emotions. Child-centered play therapy (CCPT) starts with building the relationship. As your child’s therapist, I will foster a child-led environment that feels safe and secure. I will track, reflect, encourage, and set limits as needed, in order to promote a nurturing environment for inner-growth.
Parent involvement is an integral part of child-centered play therapy. Parents will learn and grow alongside your child through regularly scheduled parent sessions.
During our parent sessions, we will share feedback, learn skills, and collaborate on ways to strengthen the relationship with your child.
Together, we build on your child’s personal strengths and increase your self-awareness to find solutions that feel sustainable.
