About Me

Hello, my name is Roxanne, but many clients know me as Roxy. I hold dual licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the state of Texas. I graduated with a Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston.

After graduation, I worked at a local community center and within the public school system to provide therapeutic services to children and families. The connections I formed early in my career opened my eyes to the innate wisdom of children and their unique ways of processing their environment. I also noticed a growing number of children experiencing behavioral difficulties, challenges with self-esteem, anxiety, attention-related concerns, and symptoms of depression. I wanted to help children in a deeper, more meaningful way, which led me to specialize in child-centered play therapy.

Child-centered play therapy provides children with a safe, developmentally appropriate way to express emotions, build self-confidence, and process life experiences. By following the child’s lead, this approach nurtures autonomy, emotional regulation, and resilience. I consider it a privilege to witness the transformative growth that supports healthier, happier children.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years at an engineering consulting firm. I also volunteered for several years at a school serving children across the neurodivergent spectrum, an experience that profoundly shaped my perspective on individualized care. Today, I continue that spirit of service by partnering with non-profits across Houston to provide therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and community outreach to children and families.

When I’m not in the playroom, you can find me outdoors with my husband and two dogs, or spending time with friends and family.
